Everything is unsafe if it's managed by idiots...
...but safe, secure, and MUCH more efficient if handled by people who know what they're doing.

Besides being opened up to more hacking attempts never stops companies from blasting unsecured Wi-Fi all over the neighborhood.

VoIP will be like every network setup. It needs to be secured; it's not hard to do, it just takes a little work.

It's not like the regular phone service is all that secure either. Gone are the days of cracking the phone switches with a Captain Crunch whistle, but it's still not a 100% secure system.
