Wrong statistic
The only
thing that has changed is that there are now more viruses,
trojans, etc. -- and lost data because of them -- than ever
before. (Last tally I saw said there are now more than 68,000
Windows based viruses, trojans, etc.)

What does the number of Windows based attacks have to do with the effectiveness of Windows based security? It would be like saying flower shops are more secure than banks because flower shops aren't targetted by many armed robbers. It seems to me that Windows security is pretty good, and only getting better since SP2 since I've never been hit with even one of those 68,000 pieces of malware.

In the end, I don't care how many attacks there are against my system, I only want my system to be able to repel them. THAT is the sign of a secure system and my empirical evidence suggests that XPSP2 is pretty secure!

Can Microsoft change? Yes. But that change -- IF it happens --
wont be for many, many more years.

You can say they haven't changed all you want. You would be wrong but I suppose you have the right to be wrong. happy
