I don't think he meant the root servers
I just assumed that though based on the poin you made about the root servers though.

But it would be interesting to have DNS server that checked it's local address first then compared it with the a look up. If it was differnt then they have the software perform a whois and present the information and let them choose to update it or use it as is.

I like this idea, I think I'm going to write myself a utility that does just that.
