Yes, you can test for bogus sites that way.

HOWEVER, I've found at least one PayPal scam that asked for your email address and password. And it rejected everything but the email address it sent the phishing to. So it's a good test, but not perfect.

Rule #1 Do NOT use Outlook for email.

Rule #2 Do NOT use MS Internet Explorer for web browsing.

I am not a Microsoft hater. In fact, I've made plenty of money owning MSFT. But the simple fact is that those two products are what all the attacks come through. And they were never designed with security in mind. So don't use them.
