depending on the OS, start, settings, control panel, then administratice tools. Choose computer management from the list. Or the easier way, start run compmgmt.msc. Go to the local users and groups, choose users, or power users, and add your login name to the list(this being if you created a seperate account for yourself. If you havent, then go to the users folder, right click, and choose add user, and create an account name and password for your username. if you did, make sure your username is not listed under the administrators group). Make sure the only people in the Administrators group is "Administrator" and no other groups. Logoff the account you're on right now(prolly the one with admin rights) and login as your newly created user.

Now to run/install programs that you deem worthy, hold down the shift key, and choose "run as" if you need to install programs. You shouldn't have to run as the administrator again and only use the right-click with the shift key as needed, for things like windows update and install of office and the like.
