- I didn't see India in the text of the article.

Much as I don't like the export of jobs to India or anywhere else, I can't see where it applies here. Except for an opening for me to write here.
I have never understood how a government could allow this to happen without some counterbalancing. Hoever there is none, India is not a net importer of American products, it's not even a net importer from anywhere. It's a high profit exporter. When you consider that when a company closes it's own operation and exports those jobs to India, Mexico or somewhere else the country has that many people who are not earning, not paying taxes not being productive, in fact they are not a liability. Even though the US does not have the social support that many European countries enjoy, these people still become a burden to us all. Make no mistake I am not saying it is the people but the companies who have cause this to happen.
Just one company doing it is bad enough as when the tyre companies pulled out of "Tyre Town" most of the population became unemployed. When many companies export jobs, that's where it starts to hit hard enough for them to notice a problem but not that it is their problem. Sales are down. One wonders why! When the tyre companies pulled out it was only one town and although it was devistating to the people living there, it didn't effect anyone else to any extent. Companies from other towns could always find orders in other places. When you have exported jobs from enough places, there is no where to look for sales people at home no longer have money to spend. Sure the big corporations are making record profits with fewer staff even when selling fewer items. Well it can't go on for ever, at some point if falls apart.
People have to have jobs to earn money to buy products. It's no good that the corporations who are exporting those jobs saying "Not me" we didn't cause it. Everyone who is involved in exporting jobs is resposible.
I'm not sure but something keeps reminding me of the fall of the Roman Empire, I'm sure I must investigate that thought because it seems to have relevance here. - Posted by: agottschald Posted on: 03/22/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
