biometrics
I think the answer is fairly clear that some form of biometrics makes the most sense. No matter how forgetful someone is, or how rarely they use a given service, they'll never forget their hand. Naturally, accommodations will have to be made for people lacking fingers.

Cost shouldn't be an issue either... If I, as a consumer, want additional protection for my home, my car, my PC, etc., I purchase it. If I don't see any value in it, I don't.

Portability isn't a concern since finger readers are small, easily transported and easily installed. I recently saw samples of the new RSA devices and they are indeed tiny. However, with the graying of the USA, I think more and more people will have difficulty reading such a display. The seniors in my family would have a problem with it.

It is a matter of personal responsibility. If someone wants to increase the level of secure access to their data, they can spend the $30 and do so. For those who don't, they can continue to use a password. Let the consumer be final the arbiter of their security.
