First of all there should be no reason in the course of regular business that a SSAN should be used, yet everyone right down to drivers liscense seems to require it. The new ID/DL is not going to be much better and more invasive privacey wise.

2nd It ain't the professionals that we have to worry about stealing our identity it is the damn amateurs. Pros being the gov; amateurs being everyone else.

3rd Private data is the coin of the realm. I don't care if your credit history is bad or good, private data can be used by the bad guys.

Sigh, it just gets worse and worse.
