I did not miss the target

However, I will add your solution to miss list. That is an outstanding idea about Equifax etal notifying you at the "last known address."

I think I addressed in my rant that the institutions do not take proper care of our information and I also addressed the thieves. Glad your outcome was a good one.

My folks had their identity stolen and I remember the absolute hell and the "oh well" attitude the law enforecement authorities and the institution where there ID was stolen from gave them.

The three credit reporting agencies were invaluable in helping my folks put a stop to the trouble. Dell's credit card service ate about $5000 worth of bad purchases and they told my folks that the chances of catching the bad guys was slim. That ain't right. Dell's credit card service was very good about removing the red mark they reported to the credit agencies against my folks. It cost my Mom and Dad money and heart ache to get the mess cleaned up. Who knows how much money comapnies like Dell lose each year to this Bull @#$%. Those losses are passed on to you and me.

The company that allowed the ID theft to occur and the thieves should make retribution to Dell and my Mom and Dad. My folks did not know that their identity (nor did a few thousand other people) had been stolen because the company "is not required by law" (their excuse) to notify.

They are culpable and liable in my books. If a doctor does not take proper care in treating me I can sue his @$$ off and own him, but if a company mishandles my PRIVATE information and harm is done to me there is no recourse, that is wrong.

I'm done rantin now. Well till next time. Don't take it personal it is not meant to be against anyone here.
