CREDIT FREEZE is the way to go .....
I have read the industry is trying to fight a new thing called a "CREDIT FREEZE" that California and Texas have which locks your credit report from anyone without PIN or you unlocking first.

When the credit reporting legislation was updated last year - the financial industry got the plum it wanted - permanent extension of the pre-emtion law which bans any attempt by a state to impose a stronger credit protection law over a weaker federal law. The financial industry does not like any barriers to access to marketing information that might impede easy credit.

Time for serious privacy laws is now. Don't look for government for new laws as long as business controlls the congress/white house - it will only occur when it start costing them money.
