Well..
..millions of kids never meet the end of a pointy knife unless they haven't paid off their crack dealer. I would much prefer taking the risk of something going wrong than having my child tracked every single place he or she goes forever. Besides, the chip will do nothing to prevent your child's throat from being slit. The only thing you'll be aware of sooner is that your kid is dead, which will be implied from the chip no longer moving around. Unless your kid is kidnapped and gangbanged. But do you really think chips like these woould prevent such an event like a Columbine?
These chips won't provide safety, only the illusion of such. Besides, all these chip makers have made no secret of their desire to track and control people for their own twisted ends..
