Good on them
"..some parents and a representative of the American Civil Liberties Union aired complaints at a school board meeting last week. Their protests became the subject of numerous media reports."

Good on everyone for banding together to get rid of this controlling crap. At least the media was nice enough to get the word out. Funny the suspicious silence from the "free" press over this exact same technology being employed in every Americans' driver's license.

"..badges containing tiny radio devices would infringe on kids' privacy--and that the radio waves could pose a health risk."

I have serious issue with this myself. It just can't be good to have some chip drawing in radioactive energy being on your person all day long. Lately I keep my cell phone off much more frequently, and always try to keep it away from my body when I can. I can't even imagine having one of these little bastards actually underneath my skin. That has to be bad for you. Let's be honest, it is totally unnatural.

"It treats children like livestock or shipment pallets,"..

And just think, the feds want to set things up this way for everyone, and these are Republicans no less..

"In fact, the school was set to gain a share of the company's revenue from sales to other schools. In addition, one of InCom's founders is a contract network administrator for the school."

Gee! At least there's no conflict of interest there! About the only thing left out is that the school principal is having a sexual affair with the CEO of Incom.
This school should be REAMED over this. This is such obvious proof that the school could give a crap less about its own students. If I were a parent of a kid at this school, not only would my kid get pulled regardless of what the school now does, but I would see to it that the school suffered permanent damage to its public image.

"Principal Earnie Graham said he regrets the demise of the program. "It's a tremendous loss," Graham said. "We had the opportunity to be on the cutting edge."

"Ashcroft, Gonzales, Rove, Hitler, and so many other wonderful men would have hailed us as the most honorable Americans!" I am sooooooo tired of people that dream of controlling others. I would like to see all these people killed.

" The system could also record students' location.."

That ALONE should can the use of these chips FOREVER.
Just to show how ominous this crap really is, I would have loved to see the reactions of the teachers and the principal if they were told that they'd need to wear one of these wonder badges themselves. Then you would have gotten an honest answer out of these people, who have everything to gain and nothing to lose by making everyone else but themselves wear this junk..
