this can be spoofed, the virus has its own server built in, doesnt use the isp server.

obviously you havent worked in an isp tech support environment. this isnt to flame you as the point should be a valid one, but users are apt to open a virus again if they did it once.

that would piss off a lot of customers. what if you accidentally got infected because your buddy sent you an mp3 file that was infected (for instance, because images have been found to contain virii now) and your internet was off for 30 days whether you cleaned it or not?
we disable a customers account and when they call in we restart it and advise them on proper cleanup and future prevention techniques. how many call back? there are many that call back or get shut off again and again. usually we block their port 25 and put them on authenticated smtp which is the way to go. a virus has no way of using your username and password to login to an auth smtp server unless it catches you typing it.

but yeah, we get yelled and cussed at when they cant get on and we have to explain they have avirus and that they need to scan etc.
