What was the faulty manufacturing?
I'm driving my car down the street. This guy jumps out from a dark alley, stops my car, and says he can install some really neat wheels on my car for FREE!!!! FREE!!!! FREE!!!! I say "duh, drool, sure Mr. Stranger, here are my keys!". 2 hours later the wheels he installs break and I can't drive my car anymore. This was the manufacturer's fault how?

MOST spyware is installed because the user got greedy and installed Napster or "free" IM smileys, or some neat IE toolbar that tells you the weather in Hawaii. Note that all of these could be done without administrative rights since spyware doesn't need to change anything in the system to work. The only "fix" is to never allow users to install applications. I can just see it now:

BUY Windows, the most secure OS ever! We won't let you install ANYTHING on this computer. You are stuck with IE, Office, and Windows Media Player.
