How very strange
As far as I was aware Linux was almost infinitely configurable, there's not much you can't change. There may be many things you shouldn't change but that's another story. Altern can't find where to put files in appache, well he could have someone configure that for him, he could have the files anywhere.

Maybe it's not Linux or it's apps, maybe it's Altern who has the problem. He seems to be only able to click a mouse and complain that things are too difficult. He even suggests that Windows is easy, well I guess if he's only clicking around windows or any other gui based system is the same. I don't see where he can pick one OS for another at that level. You know in the beggining windows was not nearly as easy as linux is now. Those of you who have been doing this stuff as long as I can probably confirm this. If you really want to make windows work anywhere near as well as the hardware could you have to know an awful lot about the inner working of window. Example: knowing which processes you can safely shutdown, knowinng your way around the registry so you can go and cut out some of the fat and bloat that gets in there. I still can think why a set of files called the registry was chosen to contain "all" system and applicaiton information, for me the two should never be combined.

This is just few things on one computer, then you've got all the rest like directory services, dhcp servers domain management and if you really want to get complicated try your hand with sms.

If you really don't want to know what goes on under the hood get a Mac like a VW Beatle it will run for ever with little maintenance and you don't deed to know more than to take it in to be fixed when something goes wrong.

BTW if there is no picture on the screen check to see if it is switched on.
