Arrogant
Its funny that you should use the word arrogant. I was thinking just the other day about everything I've ever read pertaining to instructions for using Linux. I decided that the way they leave out certain information is borne of arrogance. I guess they think, 'Well if he/she doesn't know how to get to a shell (or some similar basic element) then he/she doesn't deserve to have an OS." It took me years of struggling through disinterest and boredom to finally find out what a shell was and how to get to it. And to top it all off, they have 2 or three names for everything in Linux and they will change words on you in mid paragraph just to make sure the confusion is complete. Why do those people write instructions or "How-To's" if they don't want anyone to understand them in the first place. They should make an effort to make an OS that people who arn't retarded can understand how to use. I have an IQ of over 130 and I just can't remember all of the rediculous hoops you have to jump through just to do a simple task. Its very unintuitive and not user friendly at all. Why can't they make it easy to install software on it. In Windows all you have to do is double click on an ".exe" file and away it goes. In Linux you have to bash the tarball with a gzipper and then you still don't know where the hell the program went to or why theres no icon to access it. Either that or comepletely rely on the company who made your distro to supply all of your software.

Also, why is IBM so involved with the Linux OS? Why don't they just update their IBM-DOS and put a graphical user interface on it?

Tim
