There is no real way to stop phishing...

I have been following the phishing stuff since before it was nicknamed phishing. I remember in the early 90's, there were the same sort of emails. Now in the 2000's, we're bombarded by even more phishing emails, spam, viruses, etc. than ever before.

I believe that this problem has more to do with the people who hire the very hackers who put the viruses, TJs, and worms out there in the first place. Now with Pres. B. passing a law that makes it even easier for the hackers, spammers and phisher-people and the government (except you can't opt out of the spam the gov't sends) to do this to all computer users. It's importatn to make laws to keep people from committing these crimes. If time is money, it still takes me 15 minutes every time I'm on my computer to go through my mail to get rid of the spam/phishing/etc. 15 mins. a day = 5,475 minutes a year or approximately 281 days lost due to dealing with spam/etc. If the government can afford to waste this amount of time, more power to them, but for those of us who are working for ourselves, time IS money and I lost a lot of time because of these harrassing emails.

If you think about it, you can see that these people are sending out 2-5 of the same emails to each and every person, every single day. If spam/phish were old boyfriends or girlfriends and they were doing this, they be arrested for stalking. That's how I feel about these people sending me these types of email--they're stalking us, ALL of us.

The companies that are trying to stop this are the same ones who caused this in the first place, and now they're getting much of the same as we are. That's the only reaosn they're taking steps at all...they're losing time dealing with spam/phish and it impacts each company.

I don't think that individual companies can stop this, this is a job for Super Pres. and the rest of the gov't to get this under control.
