SOBIG couldn't do anything (well, under WINE it might) but an equivalent code could under Unix, say in a ./configure script that modified things in home.

Saying you are invulnerable to a trojan that acts as a proxy because you aren't running as root is just plain stupid.

Oh, and iptables would stop it by not allowing it to listen? Think again. It just goes to a particular server on port 80 to snag its commands. Hell, such a trojan could easily be written entirely in script. When's the last time you audited the tarballs you installed, including all the make files and configure scripts, not just the source code?
