Again WHAT HOLE?
HKLM and C:\Windows and/or C:\WinNT is writeable only by admin. There is no requirement to log in as admin, just as there is no requirement to log in to Unix as root.

Neither does SOBIG destroy anything, it acts as a proxy. So on Unix it gets put in ~/.bashrc or ~/.profile and opens a port >1024. It still does as much damage as the Windows version then.
