"misconfigured Linux machine that serves as an open relay"

Got any numbers of how many of them there are? The article is about MICROSOFT machines with problems. Yes, there's tons of misconfigured machines out there. Earlier this week I recorded over 40,000 instances of somebody using the address of 0.0.0.0 trying to use UDP to talk to host 0.0.0.0, that was in a 24 hour period BTW. I also see piles of 127.0.0.1 babbling boxes. Wanna guess how many were linux boxes? I don't know, but dollars to donuts they were MS machines.

"they just need to block egress port 25 traffic"

Meaning that I will have to reconfigure my 4 home boxes to talk to my domain which is hosted on someone elses machine on another network and he will need to reconfigure....

I use my domain for mail because my ISP's SMTP is black listed. My outbound is via my domain because it isn't.

Again...Bandages to cover for a MS problem.
