why have you got five machines?

Perhaps you're from an alternate reality, and you've got five heads and sets of arms.
You can't be from this reality and say: "NONE of them has ever been successfully "mauled"".
It doesn't compute.
I moved from 98 to XP because the 98 machines were permanently riddled with viruses, regardless of antivirus and firewall.
XP has been better, but far from perfect. In all this time, I've NEVER had a linux or apple box screwed.
The desktop market is at least 7% non-microsoft.
So tell me now why there aren't at least 7% of the viruses? Maybe "market share" isn't the whole story.

I'm not likely to buy Longhorn ever, for me this would be as open an invitation as dropping a bar of soap on purpose in a penitentury.
