interesting....
i find it interesting that Microsft chooses to shoot the messengers instead of wondering HOW the exploit code was posted so quickly. i have some theories about that:
1). the code was already written and posted on script-kiddies IRC channels, the securtity companies in question just sanatized it for posting.
2). they wrote the code themselves in a matter of hours which does not speak well as to the quality of the OS they are attacking
3). they sent both the proof of concept code to MS when they themselves discovered the flaws. then published the proof of concept code to show how clever they really were.
If I was one of the design engineers at MS I would be worrying about the HOW and whining about the WHY
As a customer my concerns go towards the first two of the possibilities i suggested, especially the first. If this code was widely available on through the various 'black hat' channels, hoew many fingers will 50 BILIION need to buy to plug the leaks in this dike??
TT
