Not entirely true
You'd have defense to use against the ticket. No police officer would waste thier time writing ticket that would so obviously be quashed in court.

That's why speeding to the hospital is allowed. You may still get pulled over but police won't write a ticket up for the offence and they often will help you get there by speeding with lights and sirens with you.

Think of it like this. You can murder someone in self defense. You will still get charged and may still go to court where it will be determined if it is deemed self defense. In the more obvious cases the prosecutor will drop the case but if there is any uncertainty a judge and jury will decide.
