Yes, the punishment should fit the crime
Spammers need to be cooked in boiling oil and then the skin slowly peeled from their skin so they squeal like the pigs they are.

They are as bad as home invaders, who break in to your house and steal your property. They are stealing bandwidth, causing Billions of wasted time in dealing with their garbage, aggravating internet users, and destroying a marketing medium for LEGITIMATE business.

They do not pay to spew their garbage. They do not pay the costs of ISPs who have to get more and more bandwidth and more expensive equipment, and all the man hours so the servers do not get to a standstill over this crap. Spammers don?t care.

Remember IF IT IS SPAM, IT IS A SCAM.

There is no legitimate use for spam. If someone is selling something, they can go about it legitimately, or they can scam suckers like the punk on the street who sells watches from under his jacket. Anyone who falls prey to these vultures gets what they deserve...well no they don?t, people buying from spammers encourage them, so every purchase generally leads to 100 more spams being sent out. Yes 100 more people being victimized by the purveyors of garbage.

Boycott spammers, and boycott their advertisers.
Just make sure that it is not a company being ?Joe Jobbed? where the spammer fakes the from address of a legitimate non-spamming entity, earthlink, citibank, zdnet for instance.
