It looks to me like

There is public exploit code out there for some of the IE vulnerabilities we are patching, but we have not heard of any widespread attacks

should be read as

There is public exploit code out there for some of the vulnerabilities we patched today.

we are patching shouldn't be confused with we are working on. I think it was poorly worded so I could see how anyone could interpret it the way you did.
