For those who care about the truth
The software giant announced a dozen updates, eight of which were given its highest severity rating. Microsoft's Office XP, Internet Explorer 6 and an image file component of the Windows operating system for Media Player and MSN Messenger were among the updates dubbed critical.

Microsoft Office: not installed by default, not bolted to OS, this is not a Windows vulnerability.

IE6: Ugh... um... yeah... Well, if you don't use it, you probably won't be hurt be it... probably. happy Use Firefox, it's far better.

Media Player: Installed by default but not bolted to OS, this is not a Windows vulnerability. Also only affects WMP9 (WMP10 is latest version, available for a long time) and even then it only affects you if you don't have XP SP2 (available for many months now).

Messenger: Installed by default but not bolted to OS, this is not a Windows vulnerability.

Hopefully this will act as a tiny bit of useful information in the oncoming tsunami of FUD.
