- As usual, people have been led to believe
-
that there is software that can keep your IT safe. This time it is the venture capitalists. While these apps have their place and good ones can be a powerful help, nothing can make your IT safe without a proactive approach by the user.
These apps provide a FALSE sense of security and the user thinks the program will catch and or fix any threats coming his way. This is obviously not true as the problems at hand are getting worse with each passing day.
From the OS down to the smallest of apps, the PC can never be a "no brainer". IT is being attacked by people, people that use their brain. And the only way to win this battle, at an individual PC or global level, is with the same level of weapons used in creating the attack.
A good AV such as AVG and anti-spyware such as Spybot, are a necessity. But without the user's proactive participation in this battle for the future of the Internet, the future looks bleak. You can bet the enemy is taking a proactive approach.
Contrary to what some would have you believe, the intelligence humans possess will always be superior to the AI resulting from machine at the control of software.
On the Internet, every user is responsible for their own well being. Not your ISP, not your government and not a piece of software. And every user that fails at this responsibility not only seals his fate, but makes the job harder for those who do take such responsibility. In every sense of the word, we are at war! - Posted by: bjbrock Posted on: 02/06/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
