Spoken like a true technotard

I was under the impression that MySQL was a great "light" database that was missing some pretty basic functionality like stored procedures.

And now you're a SQL expert. Wow, you really get around.

First off, who said stored procedures were "basic" functionality? SQL is basic functionality. SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE. Anything else is gravy. Stored procedures, important to n-tier development, are due in MySQL in v 5 if they stick to their development time line. SQL Server will turn into a bit player the day that fields. Firebird already has stored procedures but not as many people know about it.

The more important basic functionality was sub-queries which they already added. That cut down on selecting into temp tables.

That "light" db as you call will kick the crap out of anything except Oracle and it'll run side by side with the big O at a tiny fraction of the cost. DBII and SQL Server will keel over way before MySQL. Actually, SQL doesn't keel over it just flattens out. DBII keels over.

If MSFT is going to hire astroturfers for public forums could you PLEASE hire some posters who aren't complete technical retards. And if you don't think they pay astroturfers you probably don't believe they pay companies to produce TCO studies.
