I couldn't agree more with Jeff

My 1999 vintage Pentium III 600 MHz PC had more than enough horse power for Office, Quickbooks, web browsing and it even played video just fine. But all of the new scanners for antivirus, spyware and such simply killed its performance. I rebuilt the PC with a 2.4 GHz Athalon XP processor and now my Office apps and everything still take longer to launch then they did in the good old days before scanner paralysis kicked in. I won't consider Windows to be a decent operating system until I actually get to be impressed by my new Athalon XP computer's performance. That means fix the holes in Windows and lighten the load of the scanners so that my applications are once again responsible for most of the CPU cycles.

Second, I have an old blue and white Apple G3 with OS X on it. Except for video frame rates, this is a late 90's PC after all, I just can't complain about it. From Safari to Word to Adobe Photoshop it works great and I'm never wasting my time fixing stuff and it doesn't suffer from scanner paralysis.

A point is being made in other postings about just being able to sit down at your computer and enjoy using it. I spend a LOT of time dicking around with my Windows PC doing maintenance and other activities that have absolutely nothing to do with enjoying the dang thing. Despite the wooden wagon wheels on the G3 I can still fire it up and start using it.

If you don't use both Windows and OS X then your arguments against Apple don't carry much weight with me. There is no way you would ever "get it" or understand why so many consumers are flocking to Apple. Just look at the demand for the Mac Mini. Is the cost of an Apple computer a big deal? You bet is and that's why I don't have my dream G5 yet. But it is on the radar and it will be worth every penny.
