This has been covered many times, but here we go again.
"Why would a person want to attack an OS that is only on a small percentage of machines? You would want to harm as many people as possible so go after the big boys."

Your argument would have merit if we were only dealing with end user exploits, but we also deal with server exploits.

While MS Windows does cover 90+% of the desktop, they control about 1/3 of the server market. Here they are one of the little guys. Why is it then that MS still is exploited at about a 7-1 rate vs. Linux and UNIX at this level? By you own argument, wouldn't they have just as many, if not more, attackers as MS?

The answer can only be one of three.

1) They do, but being more secure, they fail in the attempt.

2) They do not because crackers know they will be less successful and do not try.

3) They do not because MS is, always was, and always will be the target of these crackers for various reasons.

In the end, it doesn't really matter. Whether Linux is more secure due to inherant design or lack of interest, those using it are safer today. If it were to chsnge later, so could they.
