Silly answer
I do not have to PATCH anything. And I get about 15 hours a day of real work done on Windows. My real work, however, can be shared with my colleagues, which is more than can be said of yours. I work with some Mac and Linux users who will swear on Bibles that their files are compatible with mine - right up until the moment when they send them to me and Windows cannot open them.

So then you leave ME to do the real work of sending you back an e-mail telling you that you've sent an unreadable file, and/or searching for, loading, and using an appropriate file reader/text editor that will turn your gibberish into something that I can eventually import into Word, at which point I will get to do another half hour or so of work to reformat it into something that looks like an acceptable <ocument.

Nice.

As to the "patching," all I do is run Antivir, Norton, two firewalls, Spybot, two pop-up blockers, a good e-mail filter, Windows auto-update, and a couple of other things, and make sure that I don't open any odd e-mails or IM's sent to me by people I don't know. How hard is this? All that stuff runs itself! Most of it takes zero time from my workday.

Macs are nice if you are thinking only of yourself.
