The real problem is...
...that those at both extremes don't seem to understand that there CAN be someone 'in the middle'. I've found that nearly all extremists assume that everyone else must feel just as strongly as they do. Therefore, if one doesn't fully support the extremist's view, one must be a zealot for the other side. To me, THAT'S the true definition of an extremist/zealot.
