Different programs
I highly doubt that IE on OSX is simply a recompiled version of IE on Windows so in essence, the two programs are completely different even if they have the same name. Besides, the biggest attacks in IE can typically be traced back to ActiveX which is a Windows only "phenomenon".

Ugh, I don't usually advocate moving away from IE because of the security reasons anyway. Firefox is the better browser feature wise even if you are going to ignore all the security woes of IE.
