No, and neither is the average Linux user. OSX I will give credit to because it seems to have a very useable mix of default security and useability. We will see if the default security is enough to stand up to increasing frequency of attacks (if it ever becomes popular enough) but I have a sneaking suspicion that OSX would do quite well. Again, in my opinion, this is due to better defaults, not necessarily a more technically secure OS.

Would you grant them that they should be happy and would you begrudge them their personal experience, or say it is invalid?

I think you are asking the wrong person that question. I invite you to find a single instance where I said that personal experience on Linux or OSX is worse than that to be found on Windows. I have never once accused any Linux or OSX user of lying when they said that they have positive personal experience with their OS of choice. In fact it is precisely zealots in the OSX and Linux camp who say that it is impossible to have a good experience, free from viri/worm/adware/spyware issues, with Windows. It is them who say that my personal experience is invalid.

I believe I am proof of how safe Windows computer can be with 3 simple, VERY quick measures: don't run as admin, enable a firewall, and don't use IE. The first two should be practiced on ANY home OS. Only the third is Windows specific and the solution (Firefox) is free. Those three measures take 2 minutes after Windows is installed and you can then forget about viri/worms/adware/spyware and just use your computer.
