Yawn
while Linux remains immune

Okay, sorry to have bothered you. Carry on then.

At the end of the day, neither of us will likely spend any more time than the other in trying to secure their machines and neither of us will ever be affected by the malware out there. On the other end of the spectrum, naive users will continue to practice horrible security measures and while today they restrict themselves to Windows, tomorrow they will be the ones running Linux as root or setting the execute flag, entering their root password, and running the "dancing elves" attachment because that is what the email told them to do with the attachment. Today, nobody writes Linux "dancing elves" attachments because nobody running Linux falls into the naive computer user end of the spectrum. That will either never change in which case Linux will continue to be a niche player and be secure through obscurity or it will change and Linux will see just as many socially engineered attacks as Windows does. End of story. Have a nice day!
