As A Converted Microsoft OS User...
...since the days of yore in DOS, then into 3.1,
Win95a (gasp), Win95b, Win98SE, Win2k, and WinXP
finally I've moved to a Linux distro and,
once the initial post partum anxiety passed,
haven't missed the warm fuzzies at all.

Linux distros are indeed more restrictive than
a Windows environment. That's a good thing IMO.
Moreover I'd recommend a Linux box for those
completely clueless users who, let's be real,
tend to be Redmond customers. I'd set up a user
account for them in Linux and let 'em have at
it. No root access, never, ever. Ever. Boot the
box up, log into the user account and away you
go.
Most importantly, they'd enjoy freedom from
the consequences of 18 month old antivirus
profiles, a hard drive that hasn't
been error checked or defragged in at least that
long, and more spyware than the Russian
Embassy.
