IT's biggest worry--employee blunders

Garbage In, Garbage Out

Two things I've determined from reading the posts here:

1. I.T. staffs now generally expect their users to be as up-to-date on tech news, changes, updates, etc. as IT is, as well as knowing how to use it.

2. People in I.T. don't realize that there are thousands of us out there that don't have jobs that would be more than happy to go work for a company who doesn't have sound, permanent I.T. strategies.

I'll be more than happy to change a password every three days, deal with a (l)user losing 6 months worth of work, and having to retrain them all when our software has a major upgrade with program changes. I don't have to worry about marketing, accounting, human resources, and business development BECAUSE THAT'S SOMEONE ELSE'S JOB, and someone else's specialty. I get a regular paycheck for my specialty and do not have to worry about job security. Jobs are valuable, a luxury in I.T., and I'm appalled at how people seem to think that they're the only one who can ever hold that job. Everyone's replacable, especially the ones who gripe about their users instead of helping them.
