Businesses ALWAYS couch it in those terms
Businesses always makes it seem as though everything is done for the customer's good. This is just common sense. Can you imagine a business saying that something they're going to do is going to make it worse for their customers? That'd warrant an F in PR 101.
I personally think the knowledge of exploits should be released immediately. Think this would force a little fire under the asses of M$ and everyone else? Plus it'd allow for at least some fun before the holes get patched. I'd get yet another chance to laugh at my Windows brethren running around frantically like headless chickens plugging all their swiss cheese boxes. If I could program I'd be hacking the crap out of Windows boxes all day long..
