Wireless hotspots don't use security
since most are for public use. WiFi in a private environment can be secured as well as any method used to transmit data packets. A wired environment setup for public useage is just as easy to comprimise as a wireless.

It's the nature of a hotspot and not WiFi itself that presents the issues here. And to go one step further, the "public" that uses these hotspots. People. People have been working to protect themselves against people forever. Theft, scams, and every other plight suffered today with IT are just diferrent twists on ageold problems. And for some reason, the IT vendors have escaped accountability for selling products that facilitate these age old issues. No other industry could do this.

WiFi is not the problem, per se.
