Our guys estimate 50% reduction
Our hardware guys here estimate as much as 50% of the capacity of field machines is eaten up by spyware. Marketing companies sucking up your system capacity for their own ends. Almost like another company running an extension cord through a window to siphon off some of your electricity.

And, yes, I'm going to say it again. If you continue to use Windows you deserve what you get. My Linux boxes don't slow down over time. There's no registry rot or spyware build up. No increase in lag while 50,000 applications startup at boot. It's astonishing to me that some people have just come to accept reinstalling the software every so often as the price of using Windows. And it never bothers them to pay for an antivirus subscription on top of what they paid for the OS. Amazing. No wonder MSFT despises their customers. As long as the chumps keep taking it, MSFT is going to keep slipping them the weenie.

Just for grins I fired up one of the Windows partitions I have left at home and ran Spybot on it. This is a box not connected to the Internet. It still got two hits:

- Alexia

- Media Player Unique ID, which I know for a fact I disabled. But there it was again.

Both MSFT spy tricks. ROFL! What losers.
