Laziness is a big part of the problem
Like I?ve said before, nobody really needs wireless in their homes; it?s a convenience not a necessity. I can?t count the number of setups (business and residential) where people had a wireless AP to connect to their computer on the same desk. A 3ft. network cable would solve the security problem, give them a faster connection to their hub/router, and save them the cost of a wireless NIC and Access Point. Plus LAN setups are usually easier than setting all the wireless settings; just some IP addresses and done, no SSID, WEP/WPA or other annoyances.

Bottom line, if all you have is Desktop PCs and other ?stationary? equipment go wired. If you have a laptop and aren?t worried about security, then go wireless.

It?s worth the time to wire your network and it can be done with ease over a weekend. I?ve setup both wired and wireless home networks and ironing out the kinks in a Wireless network usually ends up being more of an annoyance than running a few cables.
