M$ can claim that tying apps into the kernel makes them run faster. HP does this with HP-UX - which is why their workstations perform better than Sun's at the same (or lower) megahertz (ALSO the reason that their NFS implementation is SO FAR BEHIND the industry - it takes extra effort to tie things into the kernel - you can't just "compile from the source"). The spaghetti code nature of Windoze might embarass M$ as it goes against all structured programming processes - but that is pretty well known in the industry.

I think EVERYONE HERE wants Windoze to work better. The dump Windoze crowd ONLY wants to do it because of all the problems. If it worked as advertized, people would dump Linux in a minute (well, maybe). M$ would gain a lot by opening up their code (Sun has this idea too, lets see if it works for them), but those skeletins are too scary to expose to the light . . .
