As i said before:
It's a effort vs returns ratio. The easier it is to crack vs the results on crackign it. Populrity is only half the equation. Most crackers are lazy. They will only go after the easy targets, because attacking a hardned system take a lot more work. Look at the Debian Attack.. it required a keystroke logger to be installed on a contributor's PC. That's a lot of work for very little return, since the changes were noticed and had no affect to the code's integrity.
