First Fileswapping is decreasing. And I doubt 500 people getting law suits out the millions of people downloading the reason. After all fileswapping is global issue and the law suits are US only yet fileswapping use is decreasing.

Here's my Reason for the drop in Fileswapping:

1) Legal services such as I-Tunes are available. People are using this service instead of buying CDs. Explains why CDs sales are still decreasing while P2P use is decreasing. Just goes to show that file swappers aren't the thieves(pirates) they were made out to be, they actually were consumers.

2)Quality of music on Kazza sucks. Sure you get one good song in downloading a 6. Not the case with the legal services.

3)Bandwidth caps. It's getting expensive for some to swap files. Cautious downloading is occuring.

4)RIAA music is just going down the tubes and now people don't even want to steal it let alone pay for it. Says something about the music quality when thieves don't even want to steal it.

5)The risk of viruses is turning people off of fileswapping. I personally know many people who got viruses off Kazza. Mind you they downloaded and ran the songname.mp3.vbs file.



DEFINITION NOTE: All use of the words theft, thieves, steal, and stealing refer the criminal act of copyright infringement. Not the actual taking of anothers property with out thier permision.
