Only One Real Measure for RIAA Success
it's just plain ludicrous to talk about a reduction in downloads on kazaa as a measure of riaa success. after all, many kazaa users state that they download the music to "try before buy". on top of that, the riaa and company are finally coming around to "somewhat okay" music downloads; a business model many of us have been clamoring for (not me, i'm boycotting them for other reasons). finally, there is, at last, downward pressure on cd prices. so, the true measure of riaa success **must be**: did they make more money this quarter? that, AND ONLY THAT, will make the riaa happy (consider: had they been making more money as napster and kazaa and so on developed, there'd have been far less moaning from them about lost sales!).
