heres what i have seen...
when you open the media file (usually a .wmv file) you get the digital license little popup screen. it loads a webpage (i imagine using ie even if ff is your default browser, this window is integrated to the win media player). it loads a web page in the little window and then a lot of pop up windows follow. i basically removed the access for media player from my jammer program and it now asks me when media player wants net access. this way if i see the window, i block it if its a codec dl, i allow it.
