What "service" have you ever done anyone???
"First let me say that I'm not an IE fan, I made the switch to Firefox and I love it."

Shame on you, Zealot. Uncle Billy is going to be coming by with his paddle.

"However, I have used IE for many, many years and never had any problems with adware/spyware. How can that be?"

Yeah, but not nowadays my friend. Try using IE for just one week and you'll be junked up no matter what sites you're going to. Tracking cookies and IE have become like the new PB&J. If you claim that you're using IE today and claim that you're not getting any spyware I can safely say that you are LYING straight through your teeth. I don't have any P2P software on my machine, and I don't even go to porn sites, and I NEVER install questionable internet doo dads. In just 5 minutes of surfing the net with IE I get hit with spyware.

"Tell people to stop installing free, gimmicky software if they want to stop having problems with adware/spyware."

Just another way of saying don't take candy from strangers.

"Those people who think that switching to another browser will solve all of their spyware problems.."

Well, it won't. But hey, isn't MUCH LESS spyware better than getting routinely hammered? I've noticed more tracking cookies showing up in Firefox, but it's still not NEARLY how bad IE collects that crap. Also, there are no installable toolbars for FF (other than I believe Google) and FF can't collect DPFs, another internet scourge. That alone makes it much better. But I recommend FF over IE to people because of the tabbed browsing and mouse gestures. It simply makes durfing a WHOLE different experience, as I'm sure you're aware (if you're really using FF)..
