Whole (note correct usage) family
is on Linux, exception, one Win2K install that is run in VMWare. Problem solved.

But for those that just refuse to move for whatever the reason:
1 - Education: Teach users how to use properly
2 - Hold accountable: Hold those responsible accountable, i.e. Microsoft, the spammers etc...
3 - Accept: Face it, you run Windows you are playing roulette. Eventually you will shoot yourself.
4 - Keep available: Your credit card, you will need it eventually for more software to run to keep your PC clean.

Bottom line is a properly configured and secured Windows machine can survive for a while, but it will be broke eventually. And now I understand why you need all that GHz of power, it's not to run your OS, but to run your OS AND all the other software needed to keep your OS running relativly safe!

Happily written on a SuSE 9.2 Powered AMD Duron 1.2GHz 512MB PC, this is my fast one all the others are between 450MHz - 800MHz, and they run just fine on SuSE 9.2.
