The more I read....
I've said to a few people that the common public is not yet ready for the responsibilities of PC ownership.
It's like the old "I just put gas in it and drive it" for a car. And that the person would also not know the rules of the road.
My Mother thought that a Juno pop-up ad (when you log in) saying "Your computer is low on Memory. Click Here." was a real Windows message. No Mom, it's an ad. (She is in her mid-60's.)
