Milly WE AGREE 100% & I believe what you are saying

and your words have not fallen on deaf ears either. I am not an ABMer or MS hater either. I do understand completely your point.

Milly I run a small business. I have to excel in customer service. I provide a service not so much of a physical product like Microsoft. When my people make a mistake it can cause my customers money and in some cases security problems. I have built a trust with my clients because (some call me stupid) but I do not hide anything. I address the problems quickly and I give my customers reasonable but sometimes painful estimations as to when the problems will be fixed. Fortunately not many mistakes are made on our part but we do address them quickly. THAT is customer service.

When I made my choice to leave Microsoft it was when MS introduced software assurance. The cost was prohibitive to me when I looked at sources like Secunia. At that time I noticed unaddressed flaws that had not been known for up to 6 months. I'm no tech, but I remember later that year those same flaws were exploited and Microsoft then addressed the problems with a patch.

I do not apologize. That is not good customer service. I cannot afford to have my business machine compromised and I do not want to see my 65 and 70 year old Mom and Dad fretting over their machines when they get exploited simply because they use a Microsoft product. I apply the patches to their machines for them. They will not change OSes because MS is user friendly.

Believe thee me if Mac or Linux or Firefox delays a repair that is critical i will be there first to crawl down their throat and IF Microsoft in my opinion offers better service I would change back. But I am not seing it. I use what works and for me MS stopped working a few years ago.
